Cheese on a Pumpkin Stick

Wow…that’s all I have to say to start off. These past 2 weeks have been, without question, the busiest and most hectic of my entire life.

First off, I decided to release the stems for my debut album The Light Nearby. You can download these stems for free, chop them up, and do with them what you wish. If you happen to create a remix, let me know, and I’ll definitely check it out and promote it via my blog and social media sites. You can download those stems here: The Light Nearby Stems.

The craziness of these past couple weeks really began on the first day of Together Festival in Boston when I got Free Heineken at Workbar. It wasn’t the most insane night, but it set the stage for the rest of the week and all the ridiculous things that were about to happen.

The very next day, I went to my first Ableton Workshop being held by the incredible talented Moduloktopus. He demonstrated his technique for performing live by combining both the APC40 MK2 and Ableton Push into one intricate setup. It was awesome seeing him play various melodies, loop and quantize them, assign them to a section of the song, and then remix them with his already existing tracks. Check out this mini video I took here:

A few days after I then went to see JSTJR demonstrate his techniques for production within FL Studio, a DAW similar to Ableton. He’s on Mad Decent and has a very unique production style, combining various elements of Baile Funk, Reggae, Trap and other Brazilian/African elements. The one aspect I really love about music is that you can get inspiration/ideas from anywhere, as music is completely universal. After seeing his production style and hearing numerous unique elements, I decided to make a Baile Funk track of my own. It’s a combination of the grooving Baile Funk percussion style with heavy synths, here’s a mini preview:

The next day, as part of Miscellaneous May, I tested to see if a Crayon could be used as a Candle. This was a Life Hack that I read about online and always wanted to try, and luckily, it did actually work – I was pretty pumped about that. Check it out here: The Crayon Candle.

Later that night I DJ’ed my friends house party, dropping a lot of unreleased tracks that I’ve been working on – some of them being on my next EP, Slapbet. I’ve been working non-stop with various artists and finishing everything up, and there’s a lot more happening with that EP that I haven’t been talking about.

The next day was absolutely insane. I woke up and got a call from my friend that he was coming up to Boston for Harpoon Fest, so I definitely decided to join. We pregamed and then went to Harpoon Fest, which had wayyyy more people than I thought it was (the top picture for the post was from Harpoon Fest). I raged with my friends for a few hours, and then walked to the Seaport area because the Gramatik Boat Cruise was happening that night.

Right after I got on the boat I received some free headphones and an “all access pass” from Bacardi, which turned out to be crucial. The truth was, the all access pass was just a fake promotional item they used because it was a concert. Luckily I was wearing a black button up shirt with jeans and business shoes, so what I did was wear the all access pass and headphones at the same time and walked around like I worked there. I ended up getting back stage and hanging out with the workers and artists, in addition to having some drinks and food.

Here’s the mini video re-cap I did of the Boat Cruise, although I didn’t get as much footage as I wanted to (side note: the background song is Day Drink (Columbus) from my album The Light Nearby):

The Sunday after was a perfect day to wind down, and me and my roommates watched the movie Stand By Me (I hadn’t seen it before) which having Root Beer Floats. It was extremely relaxing and a chill night, which was crucial because things really picked up for the next week.

I went to visit my friend Brittany and Sarah (the ones in the video below), because I decided to get a Manicure and Pedicure as part of Miscellaneous May. It actually wasn’t that bad, and pretty soothing:

Before we went, I visited Brittany’s farm, and saw the chickens that I posted last month (they got a lot older):

The next day was my journey to Ocean City, which was an insane weekend. On the way down, which was roughly an 8 hour drive, I listened to Country the entire time. It was pretty rough, but I actually heard one banger: That’s My Kind Of Night by Luke Bryan. It was so good, actually, that I selected it for my Freccero Feature Friday.

After getting to Ocean City, I was a bit exhausted from the drive and The Country Challenge, but I received an awesome email: The Light Nearby was approved by Pandora, so now that will be an official station. Such a perfect way to start off the weekend:

Pandora

After that it was time to Get Buck. We played a lot of Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart, pregamed, and then went to this dope bar called Seacrets. Seacrets was insane, and definitely the best bar I’ve ever been to (it’s huge).

The next day more of my friends got there, and we played Frisbee on the beach while chilling and getting ready for the night. During the morning, one of my friends made ham marinated in rum, and it wasn’t too bad. As a challenge, someone suggested we try blending that ham up and taking “ham shots,” and it after doing one, it wasn’t the best idea haha. It didn’t taste that bad, but the consistency was really weird and awkward.

We got ready to go back to Seacrets, and somehow this ended up being my outfit (not sure why I made that face…):

Seacrets

That night at Seacrets they had a band called Garden State Radio that absolutely killed it. They performed a range of songs from throwback 90s tracks to current EDM songs, their performance was unbelievable. Here’s a mini preview:

The next day I received another awesome piece of news – my Get Buck Mixes were playing at an EDC Las Vegas After Party:

Later that day I happened to make my first Omelet (aka Bucklet), which actually came out better than I thought.

The last day, Monday, was mostly spent relaxing and hanging out with friends on the beach. Me and a couple friends woke up the next day and drove all the way back to Boston, and it felt good to be home because there’s so much work to do. Miscellaneous May is still continuing strong, and there’s still 5 days left in it. Things have really been ramping up, and every day has been getting crazier and crazier.

All I can say is, life is way better than Cheese on a Pumpkin Stick.
