Advice From Eric Thomas

If you don’t recognize the name Eric Thomas then you’re definitely missing out. He’s a huge inspiration of mine, as he used to be homeless and then worked his way up to become a professional motivational speaker. He travels all around the world and speaks for top-notch organizations such as Fortune 500 Companies and the NFL, NHL and NBA. He’s the author of The Secret to Success and Greatness Is Upon You – two books that I highly suggest to read.

I ended up speaking to Eric while I was in Vegas traveling around for The Light Nearby Project. We spoke on the phone for only a few minutes but he gave me some extremely valuable advice. I told him about my project, what I was doing, and asked if he had any suggestions.  He had 3 amazing points that were spot on and they apply to any project, dream or pursuit.

1. Consistency: He emphasized the fact that with any huge project you constantly need to be creating and producing. “Once people see, month after month, post after post, song after song, that you’re serious about this, they will believe in you more and support you in bigger ways.”

2. Stay Positive: He made a huge point that because I’m going to have a bigger and bigger following as time goes on to make SURE I’m always positive. He stressed that “even when it’s raining you need to have the biggest smile on your face” and be an absolute rock that no matter how bad things get people can’t even tell you’re struggling.

3. Evaluate Daily: This, I felt, was the most important point he made. He said that at the end of every day to look back and figure out how you can make the tour, or any project, better, bigger, and have a greater outreach. “Always be looking for ways to improve daily – that way the tour/project will constantly get bigger and better as time goes on.”
