The Road to LA: Parkour (Animal Style)

No Comments Events

Damn. After a crazy week and half, I’ve finally arrived in LA, and I hit the ground running as I’m already working on numerous projects and making numerous contacts. The road to get here got even more interesting from my last post, when I left Urbana in Illinois to head to Colorado.

Here was my plan: Colorado was 14 hours from Illinois, so I figured to just drive 12 hours, take a nap in a Walmart parking lot, then drive the next couple hours in the morning. Unfortunately, it didn’t go as planned.

So on the way, I saw the most amazing cloud formations – here were the actual pictures I took from my phone while I was driving (they’re a bit blurry from my windshield):

To be honest, that was the most interesting thing I saw on the drive there haha. Actually, another cool thing happened while driving – I stopped at the exact same rest stop from when I traveled around for my debut album The Light Nearby two years ago. I remember it because it was the first time I ever tried Sonic (overrated in my opinion), and there were a ton of other shops, restaurants, and businesses around this area. I don’t know what the chances are for me to randomly end up there again, but they have to be pretty small.

After driving for a good 12 hours – which became 14 hours – I decided to look for a Walmart to pass out at. For the first time since I started traveling, the nearest Walmart was another 2 hours away – usually they’re at least only a half hour from where I end up stopping. The drive continued, and luckily I was able to make it to the Walmart after driving 16 hours and then passed out.

The next day I did work at a local Starbucks in Denver, because I was picking up my friend Ryan and Amos from the airport. While I was there, I was wearing a sweatshirt that I received from the company Mighty Squirrel. On the back it says “Create Mighty Moments,” and I had a lady stop me and say that she liked that quote. She randomly changed her posture, and said “By the way, where ever you’re heading and going, don’t give up and keep pushing forward,” which she then smiled and walked away. I thought that was pretty interesting, given the situation and how I was literally on my way to LA (and how it literally came out of nowhere).

After picking Ryan and Amos up at the airport, we drove to APEX Movement in Boulder – that’s where I stayed when I did The Light Nearby a couple years ago. While I was there I trained a flip I haven’t done in a while, called a Corkscrew:

In addition to training corks, I got closer to getting the full planche I’ve been working at for some time:

It was awesome to see all my friends from Colorado again, as they’re all super chill and really cool. My body was pretty sore after training Parkour almost non-stop for a few days, but then I was off to my next stop: Vegas.

The drive to Vegas was pretty uneventful – which was okay, because Vegas was insane. Upon first getting there, I got the most important meal of the entire trip: In N Out. Double Double (Animal Style), Fries (Animal Style) and a Strawberry Shake is the meal of champions.

I then hit up all my friends, and got guest listed to see GTA at Hakkasan, the main club in the MGM hotel. I took a couple videos, the first one being the opener of GTA and the second one being GTA’s start to an epic night.

Around 2am I then bounced to see my friends who were at Excalibur, and we partied for the next couple hours. After that, I met up with my friend Edna and we partied until roughly 8am – it was an absolutely crazy night.

So after an incredible journey across the country I finally arrived in LA. I’m living with a few of my good friends, and we already started working on projects, as most of the people I live with are actors and fitness models.

This is only the beginning, as I getting signed up with gyms and networking with various clubs. To finish off this post, I did a flip off my car yesterday after a huge workout – my first flip thus far in LA. The Buck truly begins now.
