How To Make A Paper Popper

How To Make A Paper Popper

We used to make these all the time in elementary school and the teachers hated it because they’re wicked easy to make and are super loud. Like, really really loud (especially if the room has a ton of reverb – like a cafeteria).

Here’s how to make a Paper Popper – all you need is a piece of computer paper! Note: This is A LOT easier to make from watching the video but I’ve explained it below too.

First off, get a piece of computer paper (that works the best). The next thing you want to do is fold one side of the paper vertically until it’s roughly 2/3rds of the way up – just make sure that the other side, the one that’s not being folded, is still bigger. Next, fold the remaining side on top of that, just as if you’re folding a business letter to put in an envelope. The only difference is that after all the folding is done, you should have a slight gap – this is important.

Now, fold those two haves together. Have the open side facing you, and with the other hand, lift the center of the paper popper up so it can rest half-way up (look at the beginning photo for reference).

All you have to do now is flick it with your wrist (obviously still hold the paper popper in your hand) to hear the snapping sound. You’ll be surprised how loud these can get, especially if you get good at making them.

My friend and I Night Bandit also made a Dubstep track where we used the paper popper sound, check it out below!
